Speakers
Simon Bridges
Simon Bridges is CEO of the Auckland Business Chamber, part of New Zealand’s largest business network, working to influence, inspire and deliver success for business for over 170 years. He also chairs Waka Kotahi (NZ Transport Agency) and sits on several corporate boards. A former National MP for Tauranga, Simon served as Leader of the Opposition and senior Cabinet Minister, with portfolios including Energy, Transport, and Economic Development. Earlier in his career he was a litigation lawyer and senior Crown Prosecutor.
Matthew Webber
Following a PhD in organic chemistry and early career experience in a Nobel Prize–winning research lab, Matt transitioned from academia to industry, where he spent eight years in the world’s leading crop protection companies in the UK and Germany. Since moving to New Zealand five years ago, he has been dedicated to supporting innovation and growth across the business community and now leads MBIE’s R&D Tax Incentive team as Director, helping organisations unlock investment in research and development.
Sabina Patel
Sabina is an R&D Tax Incentive Engagement Specialist with a background in R&D, technical, and innovation roles within the food industry, where she led product and packaging development projects. She now enjoys helping businesses navigate the R&D Tax Incentive and empowering them to push the boundaries of knowledge and innovation. Sabina has degrees in Chemistry, Food Science, and an MBA, which give her a well-rounded understanding of science and business.
