Marketing changes everything
Get the practical, state-level intelligence New Zealand businesses need to succeed in India.
About the series
India is the world’s fastest-growing major economy and a top-three growth priority for more than half of New Zealand businesses surveyed in the NZ–India Business Momentum 2026 report. But India is not one market. With 28 states — each with its own regulatory environment, sector strengths, investment incentives, and business culture — knowing where to engage is just as important as knowing why.
The report found that 43% of New Zealand businesses have low confidence in understanding how Indian states differ — one of the most significant capability gaps identified across the survey.
India Unlocked is the Auckland Business Chamber’s direct response to that finding. Delivered in partnership with the Consulate General of India in Auckland, this webinar series introduces New Zealand businesses to India’s states one by one, providing the practical, on-the-ground knowledge needed to make confident market entry decisions.
Webinar 1: Andhra Pradesh, Telangana & Odisha
Our first webinar introduces three of India’s dynamic and fast-growing states, each representing distinct and compelling opportunities for New Zealand businesses.
The States
Andhra Pradesh Located on India’s southeast coast along the Bay of Bengal, Andhra Pradesh is one of India’s fastest-growing states and an increasingly attractive destination for international business. Key sectors include aquaculture and seafood, agri-processing, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing. With a business-friendly government actively courting foreign investment and strong natural alignment with New Zealand’s own sectoral strengths, it represents a compelling opportunity for NZ businesses in food systems, agritech and clean energy.
Telangana Home to Hyderabad — one of India’s most globally connected business cities — Telangana is a powerhouse for technology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, agritech and financial services. Consistently ranked among India’s highest performers on ease of doing business, the state offers a mature ecosystem for New Zealand firms in the tech, agritech and services sectors, including strong research and co-innovation infrastructure.
Odisha Odisha has emerged as one of India’s most improved investment destinations, attracting significant foreign direct investment in manufacturing, minerals processing, aquaculture, and infrastructure. With a government committed to business facilitation and a fast-evolving industrial base, Odisha presents opportunities for NZ businesses in food systems, manufacturing inputs and professional services.
