Budget 2024 is set against a backdrop of difficult Treasury forecasts and weaker-than-expected economic activity.
With the fragility of the economy front of mind, the government has already signalled it will need to walk a fine line of delivering tax relief, growing the economy, and cutting government spending, without going into “full austerity mode”.
