William Pike’s story is truly inspiring, and his resilience in the face of adversity is remarkable.  Despite losing his leg in a volcanic eruption, he has continued to live life to the fullest and pursue his love of adventure – both in the outdoors and in business. As an ex-primary school teacher, William has dedicated the past 12 years of his life to encouraging young people to step outside of their comfort zone through the William Pike Challenge. The programme is all about building wellbeing, resilience and 21st Century skills for the future. To date, almost 30,000 students have participated in the programme from around New Zealand.

In addition to his personal story of resilience, William is also a successful business owner. Pro Armour, his company, is an international export company that helps amputees around the world by protecting their prosthetic limbs. Born during the Covid-19 pandemic, it is a testament to William’s ability to be resilient during a crisis and find innovative solutions to challenges.

William’s story is an inspiration to us all, showing that with the right mindset and attitude, we can overcome even the most daunting challenges and achieve greatness. He is changing the lives of young people and making a difference in the world.
