From Adversity to Triumph

Join us for an exclusive Resilience Skills webinar featuring Christyl Stowers, a remarkable individual whose inspiring journey of resilience will leave you uplifted and motivated.

At just 30 years old, Christyl Stowers, affectionately known as Sharky, has already faced numerous adversities that have shaped her into the resilient person she is today. From experiencing traumatic events in her childhood to battling rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic autoimmune disease causing persistent pain, Christyl’s path has been marked by challenges and triumphs.

Sport, particularly rugby, became Christyl’s sanctuary during her formative years. It provided her with a sense of peace and positivity amidst the hardships she endured. Though she briefly stepped away from the game at age 16, she found her way back six years later, determined to pursue her childhood dream of representing her country.

In a testament to her unwavering spirit, Christyl made her debut for the New Zealand Kiwi Ferns Women’s Rugby League Team in 2020. However, the road to her dream was paved with heartache as she tragically lost her father to cancer just before her debut and received a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Despite professional advice to step away from the game, Christyl chose to persist, defying the odds and pushing through the chronic pain. Her sheer determination and love for the sport propelled her forward, serving as a beacon of hope and resilience.

Christyl draws strength from her parents, who have exemplified resilience throughout their own lives. She strives to be a source of inspiration for her siblings, always aiming to set a positive example of strength and perseverance.

Driven by her desire to inspire others and encourage vital conversations, Christyl shares her personal journey openly and passionately. Through her experiences, she aims to empower individuals to chase their dreams and embrace resilience in the face of adversity. Additionally, Christyl’s dedication to personal growth led her to currently be pursuing a certificate in life coaching, allowing her to support and guide others on their own paths to resilience.

Believing in the power of self-care and a shift in perspective, Christyl advocates for embracing hardships as opportunities for growth. Each obstacle encountered along life’s journey holds the potential to become a profound lesson and a catalyst for personal transformation.
