We’re excited to invite you to our next Business After 5 (BA5) event — an evening of networking and conversation. It’s a great chance to catch up with other Chamber members, swap ideas, and make new contacts in a laid-back setting.
This month, we’re hosted by Alpha Group Holdings – a New Zealand biotechnology company specialising in natural health supplements made from medicinal fungi, particularly Reishi mushrooms. Founded by renowned mycologist Professor Yihuai Gao, Alpha Group combines scientific research with proprietary extraction technology to produce high-quality, natural wellness products. With partnerships across academia and a presence in New Zealand, China, and Asia, Alpha Group is dedicated to improving health through innovation in natural medicine.

David Wei Gao
David has extensive experience in international business management. He has led Alpha Group’s global growth since 2004, overseeing the establishment of the company’s biotech parks, the launch of the Ganopoly brand, and the expansion of the Alpha Group retail network.
David has also played a key role in advancing several organizations, including the New Zealand–China Association for the Promotion of Economy and Science and the Fujian Chamber of Commerce of New Zealand. He has been a strong advocate for fostering cooperation and exchange between New Zealand and China in the areas of technology and economic growth, making significant and ongoing contributions to bilateral trade and relations.
