As part of that role\, Dominick is responsible for the Treasury’s economic forecasts. \nPrior to coming to the Treasury in 2021\, Dominick was Chief Economist at Westpac New Zealand for a decade\, leading its team providing forecasts and research on the New Zealand economy. He is a respected analyst\, adviser and commentator on a range of economic and market issues\, from housing policy to monetary policy and climate change. Educated at the Australian National University and Christ Church\, Oxford\, Prasanna began his career at the Bank of England\, rising through senior analytical and managerial roles over 14 years before returning to academia at ANU. \nHe has been a Visiting Fellow at All Souls College\, Oxford\, a Member of the Advisory Scientific Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board in Frankfurt\, and the first foreign Special Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Canada. Prasanna has advised central banks globally\, including formal reviews for the Reserve Banks of New Zealand and Australia\, and providing guidance to the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Bank of Canada. \nHis research on international economics\, financial stability\, monetary policy\, and political economy has been published in leading journals. He holds degrees from Aberdeen\, Cambridge\, and Laidlaw college\, and a PhD from Australian Catholic University. His research focuses on human and artificial intelligence. Paul has a long association with the Institute which goes back to its origins as the New Zealand Education Development Foundation.
