What to look forward to in this year’s summit

OPENING

Prime Minister-elect Christopher Luxon has been invited to open the conference, along with National’s trade spokesperson Todd McClay. They will provide critical insights into the new government and New Zealand’s evolving relationship with the United States and how the dial is changing for business.

We will take a close look at Denver, exploring its landing pad and other opportunities for New Zealand companies as they seek to scale-up in the US.

Eric Crowley from the US Consulate General will provide an overall perspective on the opportunities for Kiwi companies Stateside.

LEADING EXECUTIVES FROM THE UNITED STATES

A high-profile business delegation from the United States will take part, including an address from Indra Nooyi, the former CEO and Chair of PepsiCo, globally renown and responsible for growing revenues from US$35b to US$63b during her period as CEO.

A panel canvassing a broad range of economic and investment matters, including businessman and civic leader educator Tom Healy who served as chair of the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board under President Obama; Seema Hingorani, a diversity disruptor and managing director at Morgan Stanley Investment Management; and venture capitalist Matt McCooe, CEO of Connecticut Innovations.

Fran O’Sullivan
Managing Director, NZINC

Fran O’Sullivan is a leading business commentator who has been instrumental in creating significant platforms to advance New Zealand’s key international business and trading relationships. Fran is Head of Business for NZME. She launched the annual China Business Summit in conjunction with the Auckland Business Chamber in 2012. Fran’s active interest in New Zealand’s relationship with China, dates back to 1999 when she travelled with then Prime Minister Dame Jenny Shipley to Beijing to invite leading Chinese CEOs to take part in the APEC CEOs Summit in Auckland that year. She is a member of the NZ China Council and has taken part in all partnership forums between New Zealand and China. Fran is a regular contributor to the NZ Government’s China Capable public sector masterclass programme in Wellington. She was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to journalism and business.
